Welcome to the website of the South Nottinghamshire Bat Group
We are a group, who together with the North Notts Bat Group, are dedicated to the conservation of Nottinghamshire's bats.
The following are just a few of the things we do.
- Record bat distribution
- Survey roost sites
- Give talks on bat conservation
- Organise batwalks
- Care for injured bats
- Arrange training for members working towards their roost visitors licence
Bats are one of the most misunderstood group of animals on the planet and are often treated with fear and superstition. We hope that during your visit to our website you will learn more about this fascinating creature.
Bats are not blind! In fact they have rather good eyesight thank you very much!!
June: This is the month when most bats are born. Female bats generally only give birth to one baby (twins are not a common occurrence).
July: Bats born in June will be ready to make their first flights in July.
August:Late summer is when mating begins. Male bats of some species will sing to attract a female.
