Welcome to the website of the South Nottinghamshire Bat Group
We are a group, who together with the North Notts Bat Group, are dedicated to the conservation of Nottinghamshire's bats.
The following are just a few of the things we do.
- Record bat distribution
- Survey roost sites
- Give talks on bat conservation
- Organise batwalks
- Care for injured bats
- Arrange training for members working towards their roost visitors licence
Bats are one of the most misunderstood group of animals on the planet and are often treated with fear and superstition. We hope that during your visit to our website you will learn more about this fascinating creature.
March: Bats will be flying on the warmer nights when there will be a few insects to hunt but will stay in their winter roosts when it is colder.
April: The warmer temperatures mean more insects on the wing so bats will be active hunting them just about every evening.
May: Female bats will return to their traditional nursery roosts in preparation for the birth of their young in early June.
